Youth Chalk Art Competition

The results are in for the Mental Health Task Forces’ Youth Chalk Art Competition!

The project was held in partnership with Polk County schools to help spread a message of hope through outdoor artistic drawings. The competition is a project of the Task Force’s Youth Suicide Prevention program.

The Mental Health Task Force of Polk County continues its combined mission of decreasing the stigma associated with mental illness and youth suicide prevention.

Our Chalk Art Competition is an opportunity to partner with area schools to spread a message of hope at each Polk County High School through an outdoor artistic drawing.

About the Competition

All 8 Polk County High School Art Departments have been invited to participate, as well as Northwest Journey, Amery & Northwest Passage, Frederic.

Each of the participating school’s Art Department selected student participants to create art with a suicide prevention message. The artwork was drawn outdoors at each school’s main entrance within a space no larger than 6’ X 6’ during September.

Each participating school received high-quality chalk art supplies, tools (blending sponges, latex gloves, etc.) plus detailed judging criteria. A top prize will be awarded based on criteria

and best overall design and each school will receive a gift card for their own Subway or pizza party for student participants.
