Building a mentally healthy community starts with awareness, skills, and shared understanding. The Mental Health Task Force of Polk County offers free mental health education and training programs designed to help people recognize when someone may be struggling, respond with confidence and compassion, and strengthen resilience in our homes, workplaces, and community.
Our offerings include Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid, Make It OK, COMET (Changing Our Mental & Emotional Trajectory), and workshops on teen mental health, self-care, the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and resilience for youth and adults. Over the years, these trainings have reached thousands of community members across Polk County, helping build a stronger, more informed, and more supportive community.
Most trainings are free and open to the community. Because training availability varies throughout the year, we encourage you to contact us to learn which programs are currently being offered. You can also visit our Events Calendar to view upcoming sessions.
We also provide custom on-site trainings for workplaces, schools, and organizations seeking to support the mental well-being of their staff or volunteers. Reach out to learn how we can partner with you.
