Promoting Mental Health Awareness in Polk County

Welcome to the Back of the Door Campaign, an initiative by the Mental Health Task Force of Polk County. Since 2010, we have been dedicated to spreading positive mental health messages and providing crucial resources to our community. Our mission is to reduce mental health stigma, raise awareness, and encourage individuals to seek help when they need it.

About the Campaign

The Back of the Door Campaign places thoughtfully designed posters in various locations throughout Polk County, including:

  • Schools
  • Medical Centers
  • Libraries
  • Post Offices
  • Community Organizations
  • Businesses

These posters are strategically placed to reach people where they live, learn, work, and play, ensuring that the messages of hope and support are always within sight.

What’s New in 2024

In May 2024, we launched a completely redesigned series of posters thanks to Linda Shober Marketing + Design. These new designs are vibrant and engaging, each carrying a powerful message aimed at promoting mental well-being. The updated posters also include a resource section featuring:

Our Goals

  • Reduce Stigma: We aim to break down the barriers and misconceptions surrounding mental health issues.
  • Raise Awareness: By providing accessible information, we help educate the community about the importance of mental health.
  • Encourage Help-Seeking: Our campaign promotes reaching out for help, emphasizing that it’s okay to ask for support.
